POSTPONED - BBKC Club Day - February 23 w/ Sporting Wheelies

Postby LeeGriffin on Mon Jan 21, 2008 9:15 pm

Hey folks - our next club day will be held February 23.

This next club day will be special though coz we'll have the Sporting Wheelies along as guests. So far we have approx. 10 confirmed participants from Sporting Wheelies. It goes without saying that to have this organisation involved with the BBKC is nothing but a good thing - for the both of us!

Usual deal, we won't call the location until closer to the date when we know what the weather's doing.

More info to follow soon - but just thought I'd get this out there anyway.

Cheers,
Lee.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 11

Confirmed Karts:

1. Lee Griffin (A)
2. Lee Griffin (B)
3. Phil Coulter (with Shadow)
4. Brett Fisher (with Shadow)
5. Judy & Bernard Cox
6. Craig Webb
7. Len Webb
8. Greg Self
9. Scott Wintle
10. Fraser McGregor

"Maybe" Karts:

11. Val & Gerald Pettitt
12. "cisco" (A)
13. "cisco" (B)

UPDATE FEBRUARY 23

The decision has been made to postpone our proposed club day with the Sporting Wheelies to a later date. There’s a large amount of wind forecast for very late (4pm) this afternoon, but the now 5 kts and the 4kts at 1pm doesn’t help us too much when we were planning on kicking off around 1pm.

Apologies for any inconvenience. I’ll keep you posted with a new club date in the next week or so.

This will be a good day for everyone. I will be getting back from a 7 day cruise on that day (I know, lucky me 8) ) and don't know what time I'll get off the ship.
But if need be, I can get my kart to you Lee the week before or you can pick it from my place and then you'll have an extra kart and the shadow.
If you remember to text me the location, I'll be sure to get there sometime during the event.
Where are the sporting wheelies group located and maybe they have an area available for their use? :)

I should be there. If not you can borrow my kart. Lee, I need the graphic to make some trophies for the day. I also need a seat belt buckle (the small one) and a new front wheel with tyre. My old front wheel doesn't have holes to fit the brake disc. Then I can simply change the yoke depending on the surface.
Had a great time Saturday.

This is fantastic. Thanks guys for offering your karts to make this happen.

It'd be great if you can be there though, because it's not just karts that make a great day - it's the guys and gals who steer them who have loads of stories and experience to share.

Awwwww. Group hug.

Hello fellow bbkc-ites,
Had a seabreeze forum message from 'cisco' up in the northern beaches who wants to come down for our event and bring 2 karts and a deuce. I have cordially invited him and others to 'come join our party' as the more the merrier. Also mentioned to jump on board the forum train to keep in contact.
Wow this is taking off in all sorts of directions now, good news for our club profile.

 After the meeting on Monday 04.02.08 I checked those tide times again and I don't know what I was thinking saying low at 1.30pm, it's actually 4.50am and 5.25pm. Sorry about that, but hopefully we won't need that option anyway.
Back to plan 'A'

Have we had any good news from BAC yet?
I put my 3 & 4m sails in for repair ready for the day, they'll be back this Friday.
Lee will you be posting the items discussed at the meeting for those who couldn't make it, so everyone is on the same page, thanks. Fo shiz...
Peter (cisco) from Bundaberg is still planning to come down to join us, as long as it's not raining.
Wouldn't dare...

News just in - we're still hunting for a suitable venue after discussions with BAC fell through for next Saturday.

It's a bit disappointing, but not to worry - if we've got as much wind next weekend as we do this weekend, we can head to a foreshore park and I'm sure we'll get a great run. That said, we're still searching for a suitable hard-surface venue that can accomodate approx 30 people & 12 karts comfortably.

Stay tuned...

windguru.com doesn't have good things to say for the day. 3 to 5 knot due west. Let's hope they're not right. Weather forecasts often aren't.
