Red Beach is the destination as a 15kt SE is now forecast and low tide is 2.34pm, so be there from 12noon till the water is too high to sail. Will be a bit hot so slip. slop, slap everybody.

For any first timers to Red Beach, head over the Bribie Island bridge take the first roundabout back towards the bridge and then go left along the passage till you get past the RSL club. Follow the signs to Red Beach where you will end up in the gravel carpark and 50m onto the beach.

Maybe we'll even have some practice races for Yeppoon (you better come along Mr Griffin, you need the practice...)

See you there.

There is a change in the air, or wind actually. At 8:30am it's from the E at Spitfire Beacon swinging ESE to 20kts this arvo.
Meet at Skirmish Point from midday, go across the island to First Ave Woorim and take the first right before the surf side into Arcadia Ave. At the end is a carpark where you can set up and walk the kart to the beach.

First off, the access was as promised, big grassy area with shade, bbq's and so on and rig up there to walk down to the beach. It was a little tricky to sail to the point but that's what sailing is about and good for learning the fundamentals of tacking.
It was a great day yesterday at Skirmish, we had 12-15kt ESE with a kickup around 4pm that topped the afternoon off and finished about 5pm. The beach was wider than I've ever seen it before and hard sand right up to the foreshore (must have been like that Christmas sail).
I was accompanied by Dave in his new Phoenix Swift and some people trying out the Ludric (porta pottie). Dave gave me a run in the Swift and now I know there is a faster way to sail, albeit a little daunting to start off with, I felt so exposed. Speeds over 40kph were seen before my GPS battery died.
Dave had 7 hours in the saddle starting around 10am and I had 4.5 so it shows you can't tell what the beach will provide until you set tyres on it.

Not much to show for Sunday but next weekend is shaping up to be a whopper with 30kts on the promise.

If you're planning to use your Blokarts somewhere, then don't be shy and drop a line here to share with the rest of us.
