Easter Sailing

Postby JudyCox on Tue Apr 07, 2009 8:36 pm

If there are any Brisbane or Gold Coasters not going away, there is an extremely low tide forecast for Easter Friday down the coast at 2:30pm so is anyone interested in heading to Casuarina?? Only 10kn ESE forecast but its been a while since we have been down there.

Otherwise we will keep on eye on the forecasts and maybe the surf side of Bribie or any suggestions for up the coast??

At this stage meeting at Beach Entrance 3 on Kamala Drive, Casuarina at 1pm but call me for updates. At this stage Bernie, Judy and Bev are going, anyone else interested??

Looking at the wind reports it looks like we might have better luck up the coast rather than Gold Coast.

Anyone interested in coming for a sail and have any favourites. The wind might even be better on Saturday rather than Friday.

Latest plan is to go to Bribie Island. The wind forecasts are still not as good down the coast as up the coast. The wind is also swinging around a bit so Bribie will give up beaches that work in everything from easterly to southerly.

Current plan is to meet at on surf side at Bribie. Looking at Google maps there should be parking on Boyd Street, Woorim. Low tide at 4:30pm so meet at 1:30 so by the time we chat and set up hopefully enough beach to sail.

Any questions my mobile is 0414 513 129 (Judy)

Judy,

Sounds like a good plan. I hope to be there if I can dodge the predicted showers.

Five blokarters braved the predicted rains on Saturday and after a few texts finally all met up in the carpark (sorry I didnt realise Boyd St had so many carparks).

The wind was very light but a decision was made to set up and see if we could get down to the bottom where the wind should be better. All managed to reach a good beach without too much of a problem except poor Les but with lots of encouragement he finally made it.

Bernie was showing off in his new 5m sail and had no problems where others were stopped and starting. Some stopping more than others, depending on their weight category. Bernie was made to give up his 5m to Les for a short while and I think we now know whats on Les's Christmas wish list!!

We also have a new "Ms Speedy" as Bev was zipping up and down without any worries in the "antique" (her words).

After a brief windless period some decided to start heading back so Bev had a go with Judy's kart with the pod and carbon mast and managed to get the fast speed of the day!!

In all a good afternoon and luckily the rain held off so looking forward to catching up again soon.
