Easter 2009

Postby Red Sails on Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:04 pm

What are the BBKC sailors doing over the Easter weekend, April 10th to 13th?

I was thinking of heading down to South Ballina to try that beach out as it has been recommended as being good in a south-easter.
There are a couple of caravan/camping grounds close by and it's about a 3 hour journey.

Is anyone planning their own Blokart adventure? Simpson Desert perhaps!

Put a post in this topic and get in contact with your fellow karters.

We have no plans for Easter yet. Thinking of staying home and getting work done around the house so a day trip to Casuarina might be good.

Would love to go to South Ballina but I will need to check with the camp grounds if they still accept dogs.

That's pretty funny, Brett!

I'm sailing at Easter, but on a yacht and in New Zealand.

What's this, are all the Kiwis going home this Easter? The place will be crowded indeed, and you may need to feed the sheep while you're there.

Don't forget to turn off the lights when you head back to the land of plenty.
Have a great trip and return safely, hey bro... and when you see that whale... 'ya beecht ees'

The www.ballinabeachpark.com.au camp ground closest to the ocean doesn't allow dogs during peak holidays but the www.ballinaseabreeze.com.au does and is a bit cheaper on all sites too.

Hi all
Life and work are so busy at present, all I want to do on the weekends is veg out. Have had some minor health problems as well. Nothing to stress about.
Kay and I also will be across the dutch at Easter.
We'll be in Tauranga on Easter Monday, so plan to visit Blokart Heaven. Hope the wind's blowing.

I'm now booked into a cabin at the Ballina Beach Park for Easter with some friends. Looking forward to trying out the beach with the hope it may serve as a possible location for SOO later on in '09.
I'll do a full report of venue, prices and usability when I get back and add some photos of the area.

Hope all have a fun and safe Easter, not too many chocky eggs and shear the sheep Bro.

There goes another typical wet Easter break and to add salt to the wound, there was barely any wind. Ballina had not much more than 5knots all weekend, whereas John Shorthouse who was several hours south had plenty to skite about (lucky bugger).

I had the kart setup with the shadow in vain hope of a sail with friends onboard, but only the kids could manage a ride with the 5.5m sail aloft. My friends 10y.o. son (weight 20kg) was a star performer going solo in the double rig and with only a few encouraging words of instruction he was away. He had it one wheel up and scooting along at 20kph in mintues and then it was impossible to get him out again. Good on him, he's a sailor in the making.

I did a scout around Evans Head on Saturday and liked what I saw with the beach, airport, accommodation and general facilities available as a Blokart destination.

Hope everyone else had some fun.
