Blokart State of Origin Round 2 15-16 November

Old topics etc.

Postby Greg S on Tue Aug 05, 2008 4:37 pm

Hi All
I've been out of it for one reason or another for a while.
I'd love to say that I could come to Coffs, but I can't make plans that far in advance.
It's right in the middle of our busiest time of year and we often have to work weekends.
Hope to see you all again soon.
Greg

I have called Lorrikeet Park to book and seems like the CMCA (Country Music Crowd) have changed their dates to clash with blokarting. This means the park is extremely full so I have put in a request for Len, Craig, Brett and myself and will have an answer back in the next day or so as to exactly which sites we will have (a free upgrade to an ensuite site was mentioned!!).

If anyone is going to Coffs Harbour for State of Origin and havent booked yet I would suggest to seriously think about it or Brett will be selling his spare bed to the highest bidder!!

Wow that certainly puts a spanner in the works, do we have any idea how big an event is on and will it affect our use of the beach? It'd be pretty dissappointing to go there and find 500 people on the beach enjoying some fine country music.
Keep us posted Judy, thanks.

Ok - bookings have been made for Lorikeet Park.
Len - powered ensuite site for 3nts = $25.20 per night
Craig - unpowered tent site for 3nts - $30.70 per night incl kids
Brett - unpwoered tent site x 4nts = $20.70 per night
Judy - unpowered tent site x 3nts = $20.70 per night

Can Len, Craig and Brett call Lorrikeet on 1800 555 858 as they need to confirm: name, address, mobile number and need a $50 deposit on credit card.

Let them know that already holding a site for you. Len and Craig also need to confirm exactly how close the two sites are as he said because of other bookings couldnt get 2 sites next to each other??

I'll get onto that right away Judy.
Did they tell you counrty music because I think CMCA stands for Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia... and that would explain the booked out caravan park senario.
More importantly... is anyone sailing this weekend? :)

Brett, yes worked out during the second call that CMCA is caravan and motorhome but not sure why there is a big gathering there this weekend. I have emailed the organisers in case they are not aware as well.

This weekend I am available Sunday and would love to go to the beach but low tide is 10am and looks like westerly (ok course since the Ekka is this week). What do you recommend??

Hello everyone, Danny from NSW club has sent me two forms regarding State of Origin. 1) Entry Form 2) Accident Waiver I have tried to post here but there's an error on loading.
I have emailed to everyone except Craig as I don't have the email address, so if Len could pass it on please.
These need to be filled out and returned asap to Danny in NSW.
Less than two weeks away now and it feels like a storm brewing in the south for a heads up event.

Cheers Brett

p.s. watch out for speed racer Judy with her black pod.

State of origin tee shirts

Postby Elsie on Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:58 pm

Hi guys. Haven't heard any more about the shirts. are we going to have them for the comp? I'm really tied up between now and when we leave so won't have a chance to catch up with anyone unless it is this sunday. If the wind is up I'm ready for a practice run some where.

Wow, what a wonderful weekend!! The weather wasnt exactly perfect but meeting new friends certainly made up for it.

Just to recap - We had Bernie racing in the performance class (using Judy's new pod) and I believe he got a 1 x 3rd place, 2 x 4th place and about 6th overall in the performance class.

In the production class we had Brett, Andrew, Len and Judy. All the boys also did well and still waiting to see the results for exact placings but I will admit that "speed racer" didnt live up to her name due to the heavier winds (that Andrew just loved!!). Its no excuse that I was freezing cold and wet but still had a lot of fun and learning to race for the first time ever.

Also a HUGE clap should go to the kids. They hung around all day freezing and wet and cold and finally got to race at around 5:30pm. They had 2 x races of five minutes each and after a couple of crashes and running over the start guy everything was sorted. Mason and Georgina were competing from BBKC and seemed to have a great time.

Overall Queensland was the winner but about 9 points and more details and placing to follow. A short story from NBN news is available online at http://www.nbntv.com.au/index.php/2008/ ... -at-coffs/

The Australian Championships are on in March 2009 and I believe plans are already being hatched for the next roadtrip away!!

Have to agree with Judy here, a great event put on by NSW clubs and many thanks to Danny and John for all their hard work. Too many other hands to mention, without who the weekend wouldn't have happened.
I had an extended holiday at The Lorikeet and after some minor interuptions to sleep from the highway, I was upgraded to an ensuite spot in a quietier location and had Judy, Bernie one side and Len and Lyn on the other, good neighbours. Andrew, Christine, Georgina and Mason were close by. We had a brilliant Friday night camp kitchen all in dinner and also on Sunday night after the win.
The Club shirts and caps were a big hit with the other clubs and we looked rather dapper at the Saturday night shindig at Darlington Beach Resort, where Bernie came away with a lucky door prize of mast protectors.
The easy access to the beach and short drive to local shops made the stay very cosy, and even the rain didn't deter all the happy campers.
I have made my version of the event in movie form and have it posted on Youtube, under 'Blokart State of Origin 2'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cEHuyA58ig
Hope we all can make it to next years event and have just as much fun bringing home that trophy.
Cheers Brett 8)

So-o-o-o pleased to see you lot having a good time while I'm working all weekend!

Work is going crazy, but I suppose that's better than the alternative.
I can't help but think the new year might be different.

Look forward to getting together soon! It always quietens down after Christmas.

Phil has done a full wrap up on the www. blokart.com.au forum but thought I would post the results here as well:

In Performance Bernie came 6th out of 9 karts (with help from Judy's new pod!!).

In productions BBKC had Brett in 4th overall out of 19 karts, Len in 9th, Andrew 10th and Judy 12th. Good to see that Christine got 18th overall without actually even having a sail!!

Queensland took the cup honors with a difference of only 9 points, that makes it
